Seminar on VLSI, Semiconductor Industry, and Career Opportunities with Ulkasemi Successfully Organized at UIU

The IEEE UIU Student Branch, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), successfully hosted a highly insightful seminar on January 21, 2025. The event, held at Room 628 of United International University, brought together students, faculty members, and industry experts to explore the latest advancements in VLSI and the semiconductor industry while shedding light on exciting career opportunities for young engineers.

The seminar featured two distinguished speakers from the global semiconductor industry:

  1. Dr. Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal, Senior Director of Engineering at Ulkasemi Pvt. Ltd., delivered a compelling talk titled "Opportunity for Young Engineers of EEE to Work on Analog Circuit Design with Ulkasemi." Dr. Kamal, a PhD graduate from Arizona State University with over three decades of experience at National Semiconductor, NXP Semiconductors, and Fortemedia, shared valuable insights into the field of analog circuit design, inspiring aspiring engineers to consider career opportunities with Ulkasemi.

2. Dr. Ion Opris, Principal and Founder of Opris Consulting, presented an engaging session on "How to Think Out of the Box: My Few Innovations." A Stanford University PhD holder and a prolific inventor with over 83 patents in circuit design, Dr. Opris emphasized the importance of creative thinking and innovation in engineering.

The seminar aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, enabling students to learn directly from renowned professionals. Attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the semiconductor sector, as well as the innovative advancements driving this cutting-edge industry forward.

The event was met with an enthusiastic response, as participants actively engaged with the speakers during the Q&A sessions. Faculty members from the EEE Department also praised the initiative for creating a platform that connects students with industry leaders, fostering curiosity and ambition among future engineers.
