With heavy hearts and profound grief, we would like to inform all that Dr. S.M. Moudud Islam (Dickens), former faculty of the EEE dept. of UIU has breathed his last on September 26, 2022 in USA. Inna Lillahe wa Inna Ilaihe Rajewoon.

Dr. Moudud joined the EEE dept. of UIU in 2008 and has been a very fond member of our UIU family since then. He graduated from the EEE dept. of BUET in 2006, received his PhD degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2016 and did his Post-doc from Cornell University in 2019.

Dr. Moudud was an excellent and a vibrant, motivated teacher, and a brilliant researcher in the field of photonics (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Aq-XTj4AAAAJ&hl=en). As a human being he was kindhearted and genial. He was involved in many national and international charity works and used to sponsor many needy students to continue their studies.

We deeply mourn his demise at such a young age. We pray to the Almighty that He grants him Jannatul Ferdous and grant his family patience to bear this immeasurable loss.
