IEEE UIU Student Branch & UIU EEE Department Successfully Hosted Expert Talk on AI-Augmented Cybersecurity
August 13, 2025On Saturday, August 2, 2025, the IEEE UIU Student Branch in collaboration with the UIU EEE Department successfully organized an insightful talk titled “Defending the Grid: AI-Augmented Cybersecurity for Industrial Control Systems and Smart Infrastructure.”
The distinguished speaker, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdur Rahman, Head of the Cyber Security and Forensic Computing Department at the University of Prince Mugrin, Saudi Arabia, and former Research Associate at the National Research Council, Canada, shared his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of industrial control systems, smart infrastructure, and AI-driven cybersecurity.
The session, held at Room 628, UIU Campus, was attended by students, faculty members, and professionals eager to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in protecting modern infrastructure. Dr. Rahman discussed emerging threats, AI’s role in enhancing defense mechanisms, and real-world applications from his work in Saudi Arabia, Canada, and other parts of the world.
This interactive event not only deepened participants’ understanding of cybersecurity challenges in critical infrastructure but also inspired them to pursue further research and innovation in this rapidly evolving domain.
