In this forward-looking talk, Dr. Haque will provide a strategic overview of the scientific and engineering challenges that currently constrain UWBG device realization. The session will deep-dive into critical issues including controlled p- and n-type doping, thermal management in ultra-high power density devices, low-defect interface formation, and contact engineering.
Drawing from cutting-edge research, the talk will highlight how an integrated framework—combining advanced fabrication, defect and interface characterization, and AI-guided experimental optimization—is accelerating progress in UWBG semiconductor technologies. Attendees will gain a holistic perspective on how these innovations are enabling the next generation of high-efficiency, high-reliability electronic and power systems.
🔹 About the Speaker:
Dr. Ariful Haque is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Texas State University and a core faculty member of the Materials Science, Engineering & Commercialization (MSEC) Ph.D. program. Prior to academia, he gained industry experience at Intel Corporation in the Logic Technology Development division, contributing to next-generation semiconductor process technologies.
With over 60 peer-reviewed journal publications, extensive professional service within IEEE, and leadership of a dynamic research group, Dr. Haque’s work sits at the intersection of fundamental science and scalable technology development.
