The IEEE UIU Student Branch, under the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, successfully organized a specialized seminar titled “Mastering VLSI & DFT for a High-Tech Career” on October 5, 2025, at the UIU Conference Room (628).

The session was conducted by Mr. Tanvir Hasnain Shovon, Senior Staff Engineer/Manager at Qualcomm, Ireland, and former Physical Design Engineering Manager at Intel Corporation.

Mr. Shovon, a distinguished semiconductor expert with over a decade of experience in ASIC physical design, DFT, synthesis, and STA, shared valuable insights into the global semiconductor industry and its emerging career opportunities.

The seminar covered a range of essential topics, including:

Global VLSI and DFT industry overview

Core methodologies in Physical Design, DFT, and Synthesis

Career prospects in the semiconductor field, both in Bangladesh and abroad

Academic preparation and interview strategies for aspiring engineers

The event was attended by UIU Engineering students and IEEE student members from across Bangladesh, who gained practical guidance for building successful careers in the high-tech semiconductor industry.
